Robert Anton Wilson

Robert Anton Wilson is a noted author of fantastic fiction as well as several cult works of psychology. He is best known for co-authoring The Illuminatus Trilogy with Robert Shea, as well as starting the Starflight Network - a group of people dedicated to propagating the theories of Timothy Leary. In 1979, Wilson himself earned a PhD in psychology, going on to write the following works of non-fiction, psychological theory.

Robert Anton Wilson - 'Prometheus Rising' (1983)

Prometheus Rising was culled together from Wilson's original dissertation. It primarily focuses on Leary's 8-Circuit Model of the Human Psyche, but enlivens it with comparisons to General Semantics, the philosophies of Buckminster Fuller, Zen Buddhism, and other sources of esoteric interest.

Robert Anton Wilson - 'Quantum Psychology' (1990)

Several years later, Wilson published a follow-up (or expansion) of the ideas presented in Prometheus Rising. Quantum Psychology, as the title insinuates, uses the theories of quantum physics as a possible model for mechanics of the human psyche. As well as theoretical physics, Wilson further elaborates on points of general semantics, and Tibetan Buddhist practices (although he mistakenly refers to these as "zen", which might be a reference to the satori-like results and not the actual cognitive processes he describes) to support his theory.
